Meet Kenya's Karate Grannies Who Fight Off Rapists in Nairobi Slums (Video)

A group of women are taking the fight against rape to a whole new level as they have invented a simpler way to ward off attackers.

In order to curtail the increasing rise of rape assault in Kenya, a group of around 20 women have risen to the occasion and found a unique way to tackle the problem.
 
The Karate grannies made up of about 20 women meets every week for self-defense classes with the oldest being 85 years old.
 
The group said they are out to defend the vulnerable owing to the increasing cases of gender and sexual violence within major slums by taking and giving karate lessons to women so as to equip them ward off sexual predators in case of an attack.
 
In a video shared by AJ+, a global news community that highlights human struggles and achievements, 55-year-old Jane reveals how she fought off an attacker thanks to the self-defense classes.
