A former BBC reporter, Jamila Tangaza, has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The announcement was made on Monday, October 24, 2016 by the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.

According to Magu, Tangaza tried to jump bail and escape from the country over allegations of financial crimes to the tune of about N800 million leveled against her.

She is said to have abused her office by misappropriating funds when she served as the Director of Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) and Senior Special Assistant to the former Federal Capital Territory Minister (FCT), Bala Mohammed.

Magu also said Tangaza is currently on administrative bail, thus if she jumps bail is committing another crime, noting that her bail surety has been summoned.
