Nyako Accuses EFCC Of Prosecuting Him To Impress President Buhari

A statement by the legal representative of former Governor of Adamawa state, Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd) has alleged that the persecution of his client is a stunt by the EFCC to impress the Buhari-led new administration.

The case of the former Governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd) with the EFCC has been on for a while with little progress being made over lack of witnesses to testify against the governor due to fear.
 
Nyako, who alongside his son, Abdulaziz, are facing a 37-count money laundering charge has threatened to sue the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on alleged mysterious death of two key witnesses billed to testify against him.

Nyako stated further that the EFCC had defamed his character by saying that the witnesses, Ma’aji Mohammed Iro and Abdulmalik Dalhatu, died mysteriously.
 
Nyako in a statement issued by his lawyer, Mr. M.M Bakari?, on Thursday,? said that his current travails at the hand of the EFCC was ”a stunt stage-managed by the leadership of the EFCC to achieve some public relations goal and probably anchor them on a pedestal that will impress the new leadership of the country.”

The EFCC has accused Nyako and his son, Abdulaziz of committing fraud to the tune of N29 billion.
