An Igbo group, Ohaneze Youth Council has threatened the Kano State Government over its the suspicious manner it let four suspects who murdered an Igbo woman walk away free.

The four suspects released by a Kano Chief Magistrate Court 20 on Friday, 10 June

The Ohanaeze Youth council worldwide, has threatened to shut down the city of Kano if justice would not be allowed to take its full course in the matter.

According to Vanguard, the group insisted that a magistrate court which has no jurisdiction over the trial of murder cases cannot order the release of the suspects without the support of the Kano State Government, describing the act as capable of encouraging hoodlums to commit more atrocities against Ndigbo living in the state.

The youth group urged Ndigbo living in Kano to come out en mass on Friday 11th November, 2016, to protest against the judgment which saw Agbahiwe’s suspected killers released from detention, adding that its National President, Mazi Okechukwu isiguzoro, will lead the protest.

The National Secretary and Public Relations Officer of Ohaneze Youth Council, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike and Hon. Obinna Adibe, respectively, revealed further that it would take all lawful means to ensure that the killers are made to answer for their crimes, and expressed optimism that the appellate court will serve justice on the matter.

It further called on the Chairman of APC Governors forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to urge his Kano state counterpart to ensure that Agbahiwe’s killers do not escape justice as well as the protection of lives and properties of non indigenes living in the city.

“We appeal to the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to urge his Kano state counterpart, Alhaji Umar Ganduje to ensure the protection of lives and properties of Ndigbo. The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi and other Arewa leaders should intervene. We warn that if such thing happened again, we will hold Arewa leaders responsible,” the statement read in part.
