A man who had the nerve to threaten his own parents with death in Benin has found himself in more trouble than he can handle.

Dickson Uwadinusu, a 30-year-old man has been sent to prison.

The man was remanded in prison by an Egor Magistrates’ Court in Benin on Thursday for allegedly threatening to kill his parents.

According to Vanguard, the Magistrate, Mrs E.E. Edokpayi, who frowned at the accused person’s act, vowed not to grant him bail, adding that no parent would sue their child to court.

Edokpayi said that if the accused person was granted bail, he would go home and continue the same act or even do more. She ruled that bail for the accused person would be considered in the next adjourned date and adjourned the case till Dec. 29 for hearing.

The accused, who pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge, told his girlfriend who accompanied his parents to the court: “I am happy going to the prison and will see you on the next adjourned date.”

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs Violet Soyemi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 4 at Agbanbe Street, Evbotubo Quarters, Benin. Soyemi, an inspector, alleged that the accused locked his father, Mr Goddy Uwadinusu and his mother Mrs Elizabeth Uwadinusu, out of their home and threatened to stab them with a knife and a bottle.

She added that the accused unlawfully assaulted his father by pointing a knife and bottle and threatened to stab him with the objects. Soyemi said the offence contravened the Criminal Code.
