As mixed reactions continue to trail Oliseh's appointment, the NFF President has stated that Oliseh chose Nigeria amid great offers from big countries.

Amid reactions trailing the appointment of Sunday Oliseh as the new Super Eagles coach, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has claimed that the former International player snubbed several ‘big countries’ to accept the Nigeria offer.

Oliseh was unveiled on Wednesday in Abuja, amidst criticisms over his lack of coaching experience to replace Stephen Keshi.

However, speaking in the defence of the former Nigeria captain, Pinnick said Oliseh had several offers from ‘big countries’ which he turned down in honour of Nigeria.

He said: “I can assure you. Nigeria is not the first country that approached him (Oliseh) to coach their national team."

“A lot of big countries have approached him and I don’t want to mention those countries but he chose Nigeria.

“So to me it’s not just historic that he has come, it is biblical that he has come and by God’s grace he will deliver,” Pinnick added.
