Governor Olusegun Mimiko of the People's Democratic Party has again stirred up rumours about his imminent defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The Ondo State gubernatorial election race has birthed another dramatic political alliance that has shocked Nigerians with just 10 days to the election slated for the 26th of November, 2016.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko whose anointed candidate, Eyitayo Jegede was sidelined by the internal leadership crisis of the People's Democratic Party may have decided to pitch his tent with his former schoolmate and lawyer, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu who is vying for the position of governor in the state under the banner of the All Progressives Congress.
Mimiko held a closed door meeting with the Chairman of the APC Governor's Forum and Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, Akeredolu and other prominent politicians in Akure yesterday - 15th of November, 2016.
The details of the meeting remain sketchy but the parties were photographed at the Akure airport throwing banters which is an indication of a favourable agreement reached. It has been reported that Mimiko may have resigned to supporting Akeredolu due to the slim chances of Jegede's participation in the forthcoming election.
Rumours have it that Mimiko feels more comfortable working with Akeredolu instead of Jimoh Ibrahim, PDP's factional candidate or Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy.
