Emeka Odigwu, 37, commonly called "Emeku" who is an Economics graduate of the Delta State owned University, Abraka attempted suicide by drinking a rat poison after suffering a heartbreak from his girlfriend.
He publicly proposed to a lady he had been dating for 3 years in the presence of his friends at a restaurant in Warri with the high hopes of hearing the romantic and exciting "Yes". Shockingly, his supposed 'fiancee' said a blunt "NO'' to his disappointment.
Investigations revealed the lady who was seeking for greener pastures met an old friend who just returned from abroad after 6 years and opted to marry him due to the possibilities of a brighter future.
Emeka reportedly purchased some sachets of rat poison which he gulped on his way from his restaurant after he told his friends he was heading home. He collapsed on his way home and six sachets of rat posion were found on him.
DSP Celestina Kalu, Police Public Relations Officer in the state said that the victim was rescued at a T-Junction in Warri by Police Patrol team on routine duty, adding that he was found almost lifeless around Jappa Junction gasping between his breaths around 10:30pm on Saturday night on the ground.
