The main reasons why the Senate could not screen acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu and others have been revealed.

Acting EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu

The screening of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu has been suspended and will now hold next week Thursday.

Magu and other member nominees of the commission had turned up at the beginning of plenary for the screening, but had to leave when it appeared that the screening exercise was not going to hold.

The Senate had announced at plenary on Wednesday that the confirmation hearing would hold Thursday, after five months of delay. But the Senate did not list the confirmation in the Order Paper for Thursday forcing the confirmation to be stalled.

Briefing journalists after plenary, Senate deputy majority leader, Bala Ibn Na’allah, said that  the senate could not go ahead with the screening, because of the poor attendance of lawmakers.

He however stated that Mr Magu has officially been informed of the decision of the senate to reschedule the screening to next Thursday December 15.
