BREAKING News: Nigerian Senate Rejects the Appointment of Ibrahim Magu as EFCC Chairman

The Nigerian Senate has rejected the nomination of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari.

 
While speaking on Thursday afternoon after a closed-door meeting, the Senate’s spokesperson, Aliyu Abdullahi, revealed that the Nigerian Senate rejected the nomination of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by President Muhammadu Buhari, citing security report.
 
The Senate spokesman who made the revelation after a one-hour discussions on the matter of Magu whose screening by the lawmaker had been slated today, Thursday, said:
 
“The Senate wish to inform the public that based on available security report, the Senate cannot proceed with confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

“The nomination of Ibrahim Magu is hereby rejected and has been returned to the President for further action,” Abdullahi said.

"At the closed doors session Senate deliberated on issues bothering on the workings of the National Assembly and the confirmation of the nomination of the EFCC Chairman and other members. 

"Following the security report before it, Senate therefore rejected the confirmation of the Nomination of Mr. Ibrahim Magu as Chairman EFCC. #TodayInPlenary."
