Two People Democratic Party senators and one All Progressives Congress senator elected who emerged from the just concluded Rivers rerun election have been sworn in.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has sworn in three new senators from Rivers state after the conclusion of the rerun election that took place on Saturday.
The three senators are: George Sekibo of the Peoples Democratic Party who won Rivers East, Osinachukwu Ideozu, also of the PDP who won Rivers West and Magnus Abe of the All Progressives Congress who won Rivers South East.
After swearing in the new senators, the senate adjourned to resume on January 10th, 2017.
