CNN Christiane Amanpour's Interview With President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari was interviewed by a renowned CNN chief international correspondent, Christiane Amanpour this evening of Tuesday, July 21.

 
The Interview started at 7pm Nigerian Time on Tuesday, July 21. It lasted for less than 10 minutes.

President Buhari reaffirmed his position on the war against Boko Haram, fight against corruption. He also confirmed that the option of negotiating the safe release of the Chibok girls remains open.

In the closing part of the interview President Buhari commented on the trial of former Chad's dictator, Hissène Habré.

“Justice is justice, no matter in Africa or anywhere else in the world,” the president said. He made it clear that he supports the process, as it concerns the human rights crimes.

The meeting would be part of Buhari's 4-day visit to the United States. Yesterday the Nigerian leader met with his US colleague Barack Obama. The two politicians discussed the issues of economy and security in Nigeria. Obama expressed confidence in Buhari's sincere commitment to defeating Boko Haram and eliminating corruption in the country.

It should be recalled that before the presidential election Buhari already spoke at Christiane Amanpour’s show. He was asked about his past as a military ruler and his plans to defeat Boko Haram.
