A chieftain of the APC in Bayelsa has stated that the ruling PDP will lose the December 5 governorship election in the state due to the unpopularity of the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan.

Senator John Brambaifa, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa, has predicted doom for the People's Democratic Party in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa state which is scheduled for the 5th of December 2015. He attributed this to the unpopularity of the immediate past President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
Brambaifa stated this while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, 21st of July at the national secretariat of the APC in Abuja. He stated that Jonathan has been unpopular since the year 2007 when he was picked as the Vice-President of Nigeria. According to him, Jonathan's poor performance in office as the president of Nigeria has affected his reputation among the people of Bayelsa.
“I can tell you categorically that the former president from my assessment is not popular now and he was not that popular when he was even the president”,
“If it were the people of Bayelsa or the people of the South-south that would have picked a vice president at the time, I don’t think the people would have picked Goodluck Jonathan because he was not popular and he didn’t have the capacity to be vice president at the time he was imposed”,
“If we are saying that PDP is not popular in Bayelsa state, the unpopularity and the inability to perform maximally when Jonathan was the president is likely to contribute to the unpopularity of the PDP as at now”,
He also accused the former president of destroying the reputation of the PDP which is evident in his failure to secure a second term in office.
