Many people hoping to have a great time celebrating Christmas day in Port Harcourt have been left stranded as ATMs go inactive.

Customers of commercial banks in the Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt, have continued to experience difficulties in accessing their deposits due to insufficient cash.
From what used to be hours of waiting on queues at Automated Teller Machines, some depositors have resorted to spending the night at ATM points just to withdraw from their savings.
Various Commercial Banks premises in Port Harcourt have continued to be crowded by people apparently scrambling for liquid cash as early as 6am.
Daily Post reports that there were massive crowds at some banks around Rumuokoro, Ikwerre Road and Olu-Obansajo axis of Port Harcourt, both inside the banking halls and at the ATM points outside.
Without any clue about what could be the cause of the problem, some bank customers took out their frustration on other desperate depositors.
The pressure is further compounded by the need to stock up household items and foodstuff for the Christmas holiday.
At a new generation bank, customers inside the banking hall were told they can only withdraw N10,000 once for the day, against their wish.
Meanwhile, there has not been any official statement from any of the banks or the regulatory institutions, explaining the reason for the situation.
