The mode of transportation in Bayelsa State which is the hometown of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan reminds Nigerians of the medieval period of no civilization.

Even in the 21st century, people of the Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa State can't boast of a standard bridge to connect the riverine areas together for the purpose of boosting human movements and economic activities in the area.
 
Residents are trapped in the local way of conveying goods in local boats that sail slowly and dangerously over a long period of time to their destination. These pictures were taken by a South-south resident and shared on social media.
 
The Niger Deltans have overtime advocated for governmental restructuring to give them ultimate control over their oil resources so as to develop their impoverished region.
