President Buhari's nomination of a US-based Nigerian as head of NERC has suffered a deadlock at the National Assembly.

The Senate has rejected the nomination of American-based professor, Akintunde Akinwande, as the head of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, Premium Times reports.

Mr. Akinwande was rejected for his failure to attend confirmation hearing.

The decision was announced Tuesday.
