21 Dead as Wedding Celebration Turns Bloody

A wedding in Afghanistan turned deadly Sunday night when a gunfight broke out, killing 21 people.

 
According to CNN, an Afghan official has reported a gunfight broke out on Sunday night, 26th of July, leading to the death of 21 people. The gun duel involved two armed groups who had a disagreement during the wedding ceremony in the northeastern province of Baghlan.
 
Most of the people killed at Sunday's event in the village of Charkara in northern Baghlan province were civilians.

"There was a wedding party, which turned to a tragedy, after some armed men entered and opened fire on male guests," Baghlan police chief General Abdul Jabar Pordeli told Reuters by telephone.
 
Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi revealed that two teenage boys were among those killed while 8 others sustained injuries. The cause of the conflict is currently unknown. The police has been ordered to investigate the incident.
