Bombs, Bullets Rain in Bornu as Troops Kill 6 Suicide Bombers Who Stormed Maiduguri to Overtake the Town (Photos)

Suspected suicide bombers who stormed Bornu in an apparent attempt to takeover the city of Maiduguri, have met their waterloo after the gallant officers of the Nigeria Army and civilian JTF engaged them in a fierce battle.

 
According to Saharareporters, Three powerful bomb explosions and heavy gunfire were heard around Maiduguri city late Thursday evening, sending many residents into panic as heavily armed Boko Haram fighters attempted to attack the city through the newly constructed Customs House where IDPs from Mafa LGA are being camped.
 
It was gathered that the terrorists were stopped by the gallant military officers and members of the Civilian JTF who engaged them in a serious gun battle that lasted more than an hour.
 
 
A new report by TheCable News revealed that the Nigeria army killed six suspected suicide bombers as they tried to storm into the town at the Mafa checkpoint, 9 kilometer to Maiduguri Capital.
 
Six Boko Haram militants came with three other suicide bombers who detonated their explosives at Muna motor park and Muna Dalti, a community located opposite an IDPs camp, killing two and injuring eight members of the civilian JTF.
 
 
Speaking to a correspondent, a civilian JTF, Ba’ani Aliko, disclosed that the incident took place around 11.30pm at Muna motor park while the other attack occurred at Muna Dalti around 2.02am on Friday.
 
Nine persons were killed, including the suicide bomber as the security agencies are yet to issue a statement.
