The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, has confirmed that three people have died as a result of electrocution in Port Harcourt.

Speaking to a news correspondent on Monday, the spokesman of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), has confirmed that three people died as a result of electrocution in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
John Onyi who confirmed that only three people died from electrocution in the area, contrary to earlier reports about five casualties, said it has also commenced investigations into reports of multiple electrocutions around Rumuomoi and Rumuorosi communities in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The spokesman for the PHED, who disclosed further that the company was already discussing with the families of the victims, said;
”It was quite an unfortunate incident. We were shocked when the information reached our office. It was however am accident.
“We have had some of our officials visit the bereaved families but in the meantime, investigations are still on and we call for peace.
“Our men are yet submit a report on what actually caused the accident. The contact we gave had with the bereaved families will be sustained. The matter has also been reported to the Police.”
