A fatal crisis was averted at the Murtala International Muhammed Airport, Lagos on Tuesday,28th of July when a petrol tanker fell.
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Lagos State Fire Service, the Nigerian Police and other emergency response agencies averted what would have been a major fire disaster at the Murtala International Muhammed Airport, Lagos on 28th of July when a 33,000 litre capacity tanker carrying aviation fuel lost control, fell and spilled its contents around the toll gate plaza located at the international wing of the airport.
The tanker with registration number: AAA 991 XQ, was coming from Ikeja axis and driving towards the international airport, lost control in the process of negotiating the sharp bend around the airport.
Only the tanker driver was injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for subsequent treatment. The effect of the accident was massive as it affected the movement of vehicles in the area.
The head of the Lagos State Fire Service in the person of Mr. Fatai told journalists his team received a distress call at 10:14am about the incident. His team at the Mobalaji Bank Anthony Way promptly responded to arrest the situation.
