A middle-aged man, identified as Chucks from Abia State, has died after consuming 20 sachets of dry gin in a N500 bet with a woman.
A young man named Chucks who is a father of one reportedly met his untimely demise after he drank 20 sachets of dry gin following a bet with the seller of the alcoholic product and other customers. The deceased happened to be a barber who lived along Ngwa Road area of Aba, Abia State.
Eyewitness reports reveal he went to a nearby local shop situated within the area to take a sachet of his usual brand of gin and boasted to the shop owner that he could finish 20 sachets of the drink. This led to a heated argument which ended with both debating parties placing a bet of N500. The sachets of the gin were made available to Chucks. He allegedly won the bet by drinking them all successfully.
He went home feeling victorious but after a while, he complained to his wife about feeling a sharp pain in his belly. He asked him wife to switch on the celing fan in their sitting room as he needed to relax under it.
His condition deteriorated and he unfortunately passed away due to the damage done by the drink in his body system.
