An armed member of a notorious cult group in Owerri, Imo State, narrowly escaped being set ablaze on Tuesday by an angry mob in Amakohia, Owerri, Imo State.

An angry mob at Alvan Guest House in the Amakohia area of Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Tuesday, almost lynched an armed man said to belong to a cult group, to death.
It was gathered that six alleged armed cultists had stormed BET Naija house which was also a sports viewing center, and made away with two laptops. They also attacked a young man, who tried to stop them.
According to one Ifeanyi Njoku, the suspects hit the victim's head with a gun before fleeing.
However, one of them was caught and was nearly burnt to death, but for the intervention of Civil Defense officials and armed policemen, who arrived the scene and took the suspect away.
