Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, has advised residents of the state to stop changing governors arbitrarily.

Alamieyeseigha revealed this while campaigning for the re-election of Governor Seriake Dickson, that a constant power shift would hinder the state’s development.

The former governor made the comments during the inauguration of the Dickson Support Movement in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Thursday, July 30, 2015.

Alamieyeseigha said: “You should go to all the nooks and crannies of Bayelsa State to sell this good product, Governor Dickson, for another term in office. We cannot afford to be changing our Governors at will.”

“Other states created the same time with us have only had two governors in the last 16 years. But we have had four governors. This does not bring continuity.”

Alamieyeseigha was impeached from office in 2005 after being accused of money laundering.
