President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday expressed joy as he resumed official functions after his 50 days medication vacation in United Kingdom, London.
Buhari said that he has written to the National Assembly to official inform them of his resumption, in line with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
He received hand-over notes from the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo as both parties exchanged banters.
He said: “This morning, in compliance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), I formally transmitted letters to the Senate and the House of Representatives, intimating them ‘that I have resumed my functions as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with effect from Monday, March 13, 2017, after my vacation’.
“I am delighted to be back at work. As I said in my broadcast to the nation on Friday, the best way to repay your support and kind wishes is to re-dedicate myself to the service and progress of Nigeria”.
