23 INEC Officials Arrested During Rivers Rerun Appear in Abuja Court

The court hearing against some electoral officials that participated in the controversial Rivers re-run election has commenced.

The trial of 23 officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, accused of receiving N360m bribe from Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in connection with the December 10, 2016 rerun elections in the state commences today.
 
The errant officials have been brought to the Federal High Court Abuja for trial and the prosecution has also lined up 14 policemen whom it refers to as potential witnesses against the INEC officials.
 
Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court in Abuja will be hearing the case. 
 
People's Democratic Party chieftain, governor Nyesom Wike has denied inducing the electoral officials with cash.
