Following the refusal of the Senate to confirm Ibrahim Magu as the EFCC Chairman, the Presidency is planning on what next step to take.
Acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu
Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has said that the president will make known his thoughts in writing following the refusal of the Senate to confirm Ibrahim Magu as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC).
Magu was screened by the Senate, on Wednesday, three months after his confirmation was first rejected but at the end of the second screening, his confirmation was refused again.
In addition, the Senate insisted that Magu had lost the power to continue in the capacity as acting chairman of the EFCC and thus President Buhari should re-nominate another person for the position.
"The Presidency will respond to the non-clearance of Magu as EFCC boss, after it receives official communication in writing from the Senate." Adesina tweeted.
The rejection of Magu has raised suspicion that President Buhari has lost some of his powers with speculation that he was not in charge anymore.
