3 Siblings Arraigned in Court for Brutally Beating Up a Policeman

A court has arraigned three siblings who had allegedly assaulted a deputy superitendent of police.

 
 
Three siblings and one of their father’s workers have been charged before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for assaulting a police officer, Nnamdi James, (a Deputy Superintendent of Police), Punch reports.

The accused – Gbolahan Ayeni (21) and his two siblings – Igbayilola (24), Omotoyosi (18) and the other defendant, Agbede Beauty (26) allegedly assaulted James in collusion with others now at large on March 15, 2017, at about 11.30pm, while the officer was on duty at  Abiola Market along the Oba Akran Road, Agege.

The officer is said to be attached to the Isokoko Police Station.

The charge against the accused read in part, “That you, Gbolahan, Igbayilola and Omotoyosi Ayeni and Agbede Beauty with others at large did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause beach of the peace.”

The accused were said to have committed offences punishable under sections 166, 171, 172, 348 and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State Nigeria 2011.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to five counts of unlawful assault on a police officer and breach of the peace. They were subsequently granted bail in the sum of N50,000 each and sureties in like sum.

Magistrate A. Adesanya, who presided over the case, granted the suspects bail and ordered that they present sureties.

The case was adjourned till May 16, 2017 for mention
