The Bauchi State Police Command has paraded a 29-year-old man before newsmen for being in possession of N6m fake currency.

The suspect, Rilwan Ibrahim, an indigene of Ayigba in Kogi State but resident in Bauchi, was arrested on March 24, 2017.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the suspect was arrested by police detectives attached to the State Intelligence Bureau, Bauchi, in collaboration with the Toro Division following an intelligence report that he was in possession of 60 bundles of N1, 000 notes.

Speaking with newsmen, Ibrahim said he bought the fake currency notes from someone he doesn’t know at the rate of N300,000.

He said, “I met one man at a restaurant in Bauchi Market where I went to buy food and cashew nuts.  When I finished eating, he told me that there were some money he wanted me to buy. He took me to his car and gave me the N6m, which I paid him N300, 000 for.

“I didn’t know that these were counterfeit notes. It was after he left that my eyes were cleared and I realised that I bought fake money from this man. I didn’t know that the money was fake.”
