Men of the DSS reportedly stormed the Abuja secretariat of the PDP in an effort to forestall calm as the staff of the party engage the leadership over plans to cut down staff strength.
Officers with the Department of State Security Services (DSS) today, August 3, raided the National Secretariat of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, over ongoing crisis stemming from plans by the party's leadership to cut down on staff strength by 50%.
The aggrieved members of the PDP kicked against plans by the party's National Working Committee (NWC) to cut down staff strength, salaries and allowances by 50%.
The DSS men were said to have invaded the secretariat to forestall impending chaos while a meeting between the directors and leaders of the aggrieved workers held.
According to report, the DSS stayed in the premises for more than thirty minutes before they finally left.
