Some scientists have been left in shock after they discovered a 2,000-year-old underground city from around the time Jesus lived containing terrifying items.

Scientists have found a 2,000-year-old underground city – from around the time Jesus lived – have been shocked by what it contains. Archaeologists discovered the remains of a huge inhabited cave in Iran near the city of Samen.
According to DailyStar, the eerie remains include 25 large rooms that would have served as houses. But the horrifying thing is that 60 skeletons have been found within the complex.
Scientists are now wondering what happened at the city and why it was abandoned. Terrifying pictures show rows of damaged skulls and bones on a stone ledge and littering the floor of the cave.
While one creepy snap reveals a dead inhabitant curled up on the floor next to an old pottery cup.
And archaeologists are still working on excavating the site – 250 miles from the capital Tehran – so there could be more discoveries on the way.
Ali Khaksar, from Iran’s Organisation of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism, said the settlement is believed to be around 2,000 years old.
This incredible finding comes as the skeleton of a "giant" was uncovered along with ancient treasure earlier this year in Iran.
