A married former high school teacher faces up to 18 years in prison after she admitted having s*x with a 16-year-old student she had been secretly dating.

A former high school teacher confessed that she had s*x with one of her students. April Novak, 32, was found guilty of sexual assault Monday.
Novak admitted in court she had a two-month-long sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy, her student, at Menomonee Falls High School in late 2015. When it came to light, it cost her her job, her marriage and, soon, her freedom.
"You confirm that you and he had engaged in sexual intercourse about 12 times in your classroom while you were employed as a teacher. Is that true?" Waukesha Co. Circuit Court Judge Ralph Ramirez asked her.
"Yes, your honor," Novak said.
She is pleading no contest to three counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff, in exchange for the prosecutors dropping nine others. But she had to admit in court she's responsible.
She told the judge he was a junior and one of her students. When she was arrested, Novak told police she and the boy "have very strong feelings for each other."
She's since been ordered to stay away from him. The sentencing is scheduled for June, when Novak could get up to 18 years in prison. A district attorney says he will recommend prison time for her, but it's unclear how long.
