Hausa-Fulani Forum Plans Peace Summit in Borno

The Hausas and Fulanis in the north-eastern part of Nigeria are prepared for a forum that will foster peaceful coexistence between members of both tribes.

The Hausa -Fulani Forum, a socio-cultural organisation in Borno says it will hold a Peace Forum to consolidate the emerging peace in the state.
 
Alhaji Aminu Gwandu, the Secretary of the forum who disclosed this to newsmen in Maiduguri said the peace forum was subsequent on the successes recorded by the military against the Boko Haram insurgents.
 
Gwandu said that the forum will mobilise Borno residents towards laying a solid foundation for the socio economic development of the state after insurgency.
 
“The essence of this briefing is to inform you of the upcoming peace summit scheduled for next Sunday in Maiduguri.

“The summit is expected to add value to the current fight against Boko Haram and to consolidate on the democratic gains in Borno,’’ he said.
 
Gwandu added that the event “aimed at galvanizing the good people of the state to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision to end the Boko Haram insurgency.

“It will also foster peace, unity and development in the state as a post insurgency tool.”
 
He said that the summit will attract participants from all parts of the state who were of the Hausa-Fulani origin.
