Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has said he went into politics due to the marginalisation of his people.

Ekweremadu, who spoke while addressing a delegation of the Udi North Forum, who paid him a courtesy visit in Enugu, noted that as a politician, he has been able to influence government policies towards addressing challenges faced by his constituents.

“I joined politics to address the issue of marginalization by influencing government policies which will help in providing the needs of the people.

“I can see and feel marginalisation in Udi North and my vision is to change the fortunes of the people of the area for good, that is why most of our projects in the areas of water, roads, and electricity are sited in places where the people cannot help themselves,” he said.

The Deputy Senate President recalled that the first water project he attracted as a senator, which was sited at Nze in Udi North, helped to ease some of the difficulties faced by people of the area.
