Double Tragedy: Police Sergeant Shoots His Girlfriend for Cheating, Then Kills Himself in Yobe State

A police sergeant has shot his lover and killed himself, in Potiskum local government area of Yobe State, because of alleged cheating.

An operative of the Nigerian Police Force identified simply as Kennedy has on Tuesday, shot dead his girlfriend and turned the gun on himself, in Potiskum town, Potiskum local government area of Yobe State.
 
According to a report by DailyTrust, the tragic incident happened inside the Police sergeant's apartment located at old secretariat building, adjacent Potiskum police station.
 
While conforming the incident to a correspondent, the Commissioner of Police in Yobe State command, Abdumaliki Sunmonu, said that the incident happened in the Sergeant's house, adding that the officer was in the room with his girlfriend when the gunshots were heard.

"Later on, it was discovered that the sergeant shot his girlfriend, and shot himself. They were taken to hospital, the Sergeant was confirmed dead, while the girlfriend was in critical condition," he said.
 
He said that the sergeant was alone with the girlfriend in the room when the incident happened so only preliminary investigation will revealed what actually transpired.
 
Also speaking to a reporter, a neighbor of the Sergeant said that the deceased usually have problem with the girlfriend.

"They were having some issues these days, blaming the Margi lady of having extra affairs, but nobody suspected he will do something like that." he said.
