A 14 year-old girl committed suicide in Ilorin after a disagreement with her boyfriend who allegedly threatened to kill her over an affair with another lover.
A teenage love affair has gone sour as one of the parties committed suicide following some threats.
According to Daily Trust, a 14 year old girl named Aishat Oba took her own life after her boyfriend, Rafiu who claims to be a member of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) threatened to kill her over claims of infidelity on her path.
He accused the deceased of seing another boy. Events went out of control for Aishat Oba who was a Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) student of Burihanudeen UBE School, Isale-Koko Ilorin; she reportedly swallowed a poisonous substance believed to be an insecticide at Ile-Olowo Compound in Opo-Malu Area of the city.
She started convulsing shortly. Efforts to revive the teenager failed as she was rushed to a private hospital and later referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where she was pronounced dead.
Thee supposed lover, Rafiu is currently at large while the police apprehended the other rumoured boyfriend.
According to her family members, the poor little girl would have turned 15 on the 18th of September.
