Elizabeth Nwaoha, a woman who described herself as a “deputy branch leader of Fidelity Bank, Owerri, Imo State,” has accused the Police of protecting those who allegedly defrauded her of N13m in 2015, leading to her dismissal from the bank.

According to Punch Metro, Elizabeth Nwaoha had protested the administrative bail allegedly granted to persons who had admitted in their statements that they defrauded her, saying the prosecution had also failed to compel the person who took the suspects on an administrative bail to appear before the court, thereby frustrating her.

Inside the court room 11 of the Federal High Court, Owerri, Imo State on Monday, Madam Nwaoha had drawn the attention of the presiding judge, Jane Inyang, to the issue.

The Police prosecutor, Kalm Achi, had informed the court that he had yet to serve the defendant, George Ebo, the charge sheet. But this did not go down well with Ms Nwaoha who cried out that the Police prosecutor was “frustrating the wheel of justice.”

She said the Police’s inability to provide the alleged fraudsters for arraignment made her to go after the individual who took the accused persons on an administrative bail in 2016.

While crying and making her compliant to the court about the alleged Police complacency in the matter, Judge Inyang told her that she was being emotional, and directed her to channel her grievances through her counsel.

However, the Police prosecutor told the court that Nwaoha had refused to understand the issue, and that Nwaoha had continued to report her (Achi) to people.

Inyang calmed her down, saying the court only deals with lawyers and not the litigants, asking her to wait until the matter comes up for hearing.

Inyang then ordered the Police prosecutor to serve the defendant the charge sheet, make the charge sheet competent and ensure that the accused person is present in court on the next adjourned date.

She then adjourned the matter to June 19, 2017 for hearing.
