Reliable reports say that the beneficiaries of the Amnesty programme would start receiving their allowances after the much awaited approval from President Buhari.

After what seemed like a very long two months without pay, the Federal Government has now continued to grant ex-militants in the Niger Delta their monthly allowances.

It was gathered that the beneficiaries of the Amnesty programme would start receiving their allowances after the much awaited approval from President Buhari.

Disclosing this development, the Head, Media and Communication of the Amnesty Programme, Daniel Alabrah, said on Friday, August 7, 2015 that the Central Bank of Nigeria has began payment of the N65, 000 for each of the beneficiaries.

Alabrah said the office would commence payment of the allowances and in-training fees for delegates after an ongoing verification exercise.

Reports also say that while the allowances for May 2015 was being paid, the outstanding allowances for June and July 2015 would be paid later in batches.

The payment is coming after the appointment of Brig. Gen. Paul Boro (retd) as the Coordinator of the Programme on July 28, 2015.

The Federal Government suspended payment of salaries and allowances to those under the Amnesty Programme at the inception of the Buhari Administration in May 2015.
