A 32-year-old man and an 18-year-old girl have been sentenced to prison by a Chief Magistrates' Court sitting in Kano on Tuesday

A Kano Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced one Sunday Adedeji and 18-year-old Juliet Danladi to three months imprisonment each for adultery.
Adedeji, 32, and the woman of Dakata Quarters, Kano, are facing a two-count charge of adultery.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Junaidu Aminu, told the court that one Charles Danladi of the same address reported the case at Dakata Police Division, Kano, on June 4.
He said that about five months ago the convicts had illicit carnal knowledge without formal marriage.
Aminu said that the offences contravened sections 387 and 388 of the Penal Code.
The convicts pleaded guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Kabiru Abubakar sentenced the convicts to three months imprisonment with an option to pay N10,000 fine each.
