A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, on Wednesday joined the United Progressives Party and declared his intention to run in the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.

Chidoka, who was accompanied to his Obosi Ward 1 in Idemili North Local Government Area for registration with the UPP by loyalists, said he joined the party to bring good governance to the state.

Speaking after he was issued with a UPP membership card by the state chairman of the party, Dr Sylvester Igwilo, the former FRSC corps marshal said he would run a government that would not tax the poor to increase internally generated revenue.

He said, “We shall generate money for the state not by taxing the poor; the kind of government we will run is not that which will fund party activities and others with state resources.

“Anambra money would be spent on Anambra people not generating money from the poor for the rich to enjoy.”
