The Ogun State Police Command says it arrested a security guard with a private security company in Lagos, Ojo Adebowale, Punch Metro reports.

The man was nabbed for allegedly hacking into the Facebook account of a lawmaker representing Ipokia/Idiroko constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Ojo Adebowale Viwanu.

The suspect was said to have been tracked to Lagos by detectives attached to Ibara Divisional Headquarters, Abeokuta.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the lawmaker had earlier lodged a complaint at the police station that an unknown person had hacked into his Facebook account and using it to defraud unsuspecting members of the public of their hard earned money.

He said the lawmaker revealed that some of his associates had fallen victims to the fraudster.

Oyeyemi said on the strength of his complaint, the Ibara Divisional Police Officer, Abiodun Bakare, detailed some detectives to unravel the person behind the act.

He said, “Their efforts paid off when the suspect was eventually technically traced to Lagos where he was arrested. He has made a confessional statement to the police.”

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the suspect be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
