Heartbreaking! Nigerian Professor, Wife And 2 Children Die in Tragic House Fire in Kazakhstan (Photo)

A Nigerian Urological Surgeon, Professor Elijah Oladunni Kehinde alongside his family have met a cruel end in Kazakhstan.

Urological Surgeon, Professor Elijah Oladunni Kehinde, together with his wife, Dr Funmilola Ajibona Kehinde, and two children, Mojoyinoluwa and Omolayo, aged 17 years and 8 years, respectively have died in a tragic fire accident in their apartment at Astana, Kazakhstan, at 5 am Friday July 14, 2017. 
 
According to his classmate who is the President/Medical Director at Abbydek Family Medical Practice, Dr. Emmanuel Fashakin, the fire was thought to have originated from an electrical malfunction, and the flame consumed the house even though there were smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. 
 
He is survived by two older children, Yemisi and Olaitan. Professor Kehinde worked in the School of Medicine, Nazarbayev University, from June 2016. He was an experienced researcher and consultant in the field of urologic surgery with significant administrative experience. He was aged 64.
 
Fashakin while expressing grief on social media wrote:
 
"OBITUARY: PROF ELIJAH OLADUNNI KEHINDE
 
With a heavy heart I regret to announce the death of my friend, classmate, Christian brother, and Urological Surgeon, Professor Elijah Oladunni Kehinde, together with his wife and two children, aged 17 years and 8 years, in a tragic fire accident in their apartment at Astana, Kazakhstan, at 5 am Friday July 14, 2017.
 
He was a good man and accepted the challenge of setting up a top rate Medical School in Kazakhstan, but tragedy struck one year into his tenure. The fire was thought to have originated from an electrical malfunction, and the flame consumed the house even though there were smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Ibadan Medicos and alumni of University of UNIVERSITY COLLEGE HOSPITAL, IBADAN and University of Ibadan will miss "Bros K".
 
He is survived by two older children, Yemisi and Olaitan. May his soul, and that of his wife, Dr Funmilola Ajibona Kehinde and their deceased children, Mojoyinoluwa ande Omolayo rest in peace. Goodnight, Bros K!"
