The Nigerian senate, during plenary, has approved that local government area elections be conducted by the INEC.

According to The Punch, the Senate at the plenary on Tuesday approved that the Independent National Electoral Commission conducts local government area elections.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, who presided over the debate on the report by the National Assembly Joint Committee on Constitution Review, put the proposed amendment to vote and the ayes had it.
