Driver hired 210,000 Ferrari to go to a wedding but instead crashed it into a house and a taxi.
A man who hired a £210,000 Ferrari racing car to attend a wedding, has crashed it into a house and ended up under a taxi. Amazingly, nobody was injured when the red and grey 458 Italia, with a top speed of 202mph, smashed into the terraced house in Luton on Sunday.
Luxury car hire firm, Prestige Lifestyle, who owned the car, said it was destroyed with just 4,600 miles on the clock. The accident which also involved a Vauxhall Astra, happened at around 7pm in a residential street in Luton, Beds. on Sunday.
The 29-year-old man who had hired the vehicle from their depot in Shoreham-by-Sea on Thursday paid £5,000 deposit plus £850-a-day for the 64 plate motor, telling the owners that it was to be used during a wedding, and was due to return it on Monday.
Unsurprisingly the driver, who has not been named, has lost his £5,000 deposit after insurers took just three minutes to write off the supercar.
Co-owner of the car hire firm, Jamie Ford, said: "When I saw what had happened I was absolutely devastated. They have done a really good job of crashing it and writing it off. It took three minutes for the insurance assessors to write it off. I just wish people had more respect for super cars. People need to realise that they are not invincible."
