Commotion as Huge Crowd Prevents Police Team From Abuja From Arresting Cross River Monarch (Photos)

Police officers from Abuja who came to arrest a monarch in Cross River were met with opposition as crowds stopped them from taking the traditional ruler away.

Some policemen from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) from the Force Headquarters Abuja were stopped by a large crowd of villagers who prevented them from arresting a paramount ruler in Cross River state.  
 
The incident occured on Tuesday morning as the police officers tried to arrest the Obol Lopon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Ubana following the recent gang war in Ugep community.
 
 
According to CrossRiverWatch, it was reported that the Obol Ofem was arrested and was later released when the FSARS unit discovered that they could not contain or maneuver through the large crowd that had gathered to protest the attempted arrest of the monarch.
 
 
The youths had said that it has never been heard in the history of Ugep that the Obol Lopon has been arrested and therefore he will not go to Abuja with them.
