The White House has hired it's first transgender identified as Raffi Freedman-Gurspan.

United States government official house, known as the White House has hired a it's first openly transgender woman.
Raffi Freedman-Gurspan will be directing presidential personnel staffers who work to recruit qualified candidates to serve the president in departments and agencies across the government, according to the White House's website. The office also ensures that personnel priorities of the administration are being addressed.
The move marks the latest step in President Barack Obama’s public support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights.
President Barack Obama initially opposed gay marriage but came out in favour of it in 2012 and has made LGBT rights a priority of his time in office.
Her recruitment was announced on Tuesday, August 18. She had earlier made history as the first transgender woman to work in the Massachusetts State House.
