Arsenal won the first trophy of the 2017-18 season against Chelsea through spot kicks after an entertaining and controversial Community Shield clash in the sunshine at Wembley.

Victor Moses looked to have made amends for his red card in the FA Cup final between these two sides in May, when just after half time he smashed past Petr Cech from six yards.

However, with ten minutes to play Pedro was surprisingly sent off for a tackle on Mohamed Elneny, and from the resulting free kick debutant Saed Kolasinac headed past Thibaut Courtois.

In the resultant penalty shoot out, Courtois surprisingly took Chelsea's second kick and blasted it over, while £55m striker, Alvaro Morata hit the post, leaving the wining kick to be slammed in by Olivier Giroud.
