Justice L. Yakubu of the Upper Sharia Court No 1 on Tuesday remanded the three suspects involved in the attack on match officials during and after Sunday’s  Nigeria Professional Football League match between Wikki Tourists and Rangers at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi in prison.

The suspects, Mohammed Isa, Hamisu Mohammed and Yola Ishaya alias Chara, pleaded not guilty after they were arraigned before the Judge.

Counsel for the three accused M. Lawan’s  application was opposed by  the prosecutor Sgt. Lano Salihuwho urged the court to dismiss the application on three grounds, including the possibility that they might jump bail.

He also argued that the police were still awaiting the First Information Report from the victims who are based in Abuja on the nature of their injuries.

In his ruling, Justice Yakubu agreed with the prayers of the prosecutor and directed that the three accused be kept in prison. He adjourned the case till the August 31.

FIFA  referee Bose Momoh  sustained a serious   injury to her  eye after she was allegedly  attacked with  a  stone  by a  suspected  Wikki Tourist fan  Mohammed Isa during   the game that ended  1-1.
