Gov. Ambode has immediately terminated the contract saying that it was grossly detrimental to the interests of the people of the state.

The governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has cancelled the contract for the redevelopment of the Falomo Shopping Centre awarded by his predecessor, Babatunde Fashola to Afriland Properties.
 
Ambode revoked the contract on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, saying that it was grossly detrimental to the interests of the people of the state. He also warned contractors in the state against performing shoddy jobs on the projects handed to them.
 
Ambode’s comments were contained in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna.
 
Aruna also said that Afriland Properties only paid only N50million for a 50-year lease of the property belonging to the government.
 
There have been reports that all is not well between Fashola and Ambode even as the latter failed to attend his predecessor's book launch which held in the state.
