A student of Unilorin, Joy William who witnessed the collapse narrated the incident, saying, “We were inside the room, then we heard a very loud noise and I went out. That was when the building just collapsed. It happened this afternoon. We heard somebody shouting ‘help, help’ and people rushed to his rescue.

"They rescued one person and later rescued the second person. The third person was badly injured. They rushed the three of them to the nearest hospital.

“The collapsed section of the building is a mosque but the back side is an apartment. The workers were the ones that did the rescue work, there was no external person or equipment to rescue the people that were shouting for help.
