Buhari Presides Over FEC Meeting, Receives Victorious Women's Basketball Team, Donates Millions (Photos)

President Buhari has presided over Federal Executive Council meeting and received victorious African Basketball Champions, D'Tigress, in State House this Friday, 30th Aug 2017.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, presided over the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja - his first since he proceeded on medical vacation in the United Kingdom on May 7th.
 
Recall that Buhari cancelled the meeting last week to allow him receive the investigative report from Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke.
 
 
Buhari’s first assignment at FEC meeting which started around 11.a.m on Wednesday, was to receive the victorious Nigeria’s national basketball team, D'Tigeress.
 
The team won the 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Mali and also qualify for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup slated for Spain.
 
 
The President announced N1 million gift for each of the female basketball players.
 
On her part, Aisha Mohammed, team captain, said the cash reward from the president would encourage them to win gold next year in Spain.
 
 
Musa Ahmadu Kid, president of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBF), said the team won because of the “democratic process that has returned to the federation”.
 
He further expressed optimism that the team could achieve the same success when they go to Spain.
